GAD was commissioned by Francisco “Paco” Rojas and Eleonora Serani. For their Creative Project as part of their education at the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp, they envisioned an interdisciplinary project where the emotions sadness, joy, fear, anger and disgust are embodied by five newly created compositions. GAD, named after its central motif, represented infinite joy.

GAD is about 11 minutes long and follows a clear sonata structure. The exposition of the two themes is followed by a development and recapitulation that incorporate extensive inversions before ending with a climax. The never-ending GAD motif glues together the different sections.
